Disable Windows spotlight

  1. Open Settings, using the keyboard shortcut Windows + I
  2. Click on Personalization, then Lock screen.
  3. Use the “Background” drop-down menu, and select the Picture or Slideshow.

  • Open File Explorer (Windows + E), switch to the View tab, and checkmark on Hiden items.
  • Now Press Windows + R, type the following path and click ok.
  • %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets.
  • This will opens up at the location where all Windows Spotlight images are saved.
  • Go to the Assets folder and then press Ctrl + A to select all files. Now delete them, And close everything.

  3. Here look for the file named settings.dat and roaming.lock Rename them as settings.dat.bak and roaming.lock.bak.

Disable Proxy settings

  1. Press Windows + S to launch the search bar. Search for “proxy” in it.
  2. Press the option of “LAN settings” present at the end of the window.
  3. Uncheck the option “Use a proxy server for your LAN” and then press OK to save the changes.
  4. Now finally, check if your issue is solved or not.

Run System file checker

If the issue still persists, check the system files using the SFC utility that scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

  1. Open Command Prompt as administrator
  2. In the command prompt, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.
  3. Let 100% complete the scanning process.
  4. Exit the command prompt and restart windows.
