Change the number of rollback days for Windows 10 feature upgrades

When you upgrade from a previous version of Windows 10 to the latest version 1903 Windows 10 system keeps a copy of the previous version of Windows so that users can roll back to the previous version if they encounter issues with the newest version. By default settings, Windows 10 allows you to go back to the previous version of Windows in the first 10 days. How To extend the period to uninstall a Windows 10 upgrade

Microsoft revealed DISM operating system uninstall command-line options on Microsoft’s Doc website, that gives a user the ability to:

  • Find out how many days after an upgrade that an OS can be uninstalled.
  • Set the number of days that a user has to uninstall a Windows upgrade.

And to perform this, simply open a command prompt with administrative privileges and type the command DISM /Online /Get-OSUninstallWindow that displays the current rollback period in days.

Now type command DISM /Online /Set-OSUninstallWindow /Value:30, to modify the rollback period. Here Value:30 means that you will be able to roll back to the previous version of Windows up to 30 days after installation of the new version. Also, you can change the Value:60 to extend the rollback period by 60 days.

Tip: You can change the value to a maximum of 60 days as Windows will keep the files of the previous version of the operating system on the device for the selected period only.

NOTE: If you get “Error:3. The system cannot find the path specified” error, it is likely because there is no previous version of Windows files on your PC. As we mentioned before you must perform this command within 10 days of Windows 10 Upgrade.
